Replying to feedback

Replies keep the conversation on the comment it belongs to. The question, the answer, and the decision all stay pinned to the same frame, line, or spot.

1. 1Open the comment. Clicking it takes you to its exact spot in the draft.
2. 2Write your reply in the thread.
3. 3Send it. The people in the thread are notified.

When to reply instead of fixing

• The note is unclear. Ask what they mean, and set the comment to Needs info so everyone can see it is waiting on an answer.
• You have a better idea. Suggest the alternative before spending time on the requested change.
• It cannot be done. Explain why, then set it to Won't fix so the decision is on record.
• It is done. A short "Fixed in v4" reply before resolving tells the reviewer where to look.

Every reply is tagged with the author's name, role, and time, so nothing in the thread is anonymous or out of context.
